While we were at Universal Studios the last 5 days, my wife and I stopped in at the local Victory dealer in Kissimmee, and I picked up the highway pegs. I installed them yesterday and when I was finished it started to thunderstorm. This is a typical FL afternoon. Today my brother-n-law went riding down to my Myakka River State Park. It was a good ride, hot, but good. The highway peg performed like they should. For me it was enough of a stretch that I could ride in comfort and the breeze blowing up my pants legs was a +.  While I think it could have stretched a little more forward and not so high this is a good fix for FL summertime riding.

Savannah, GA -Year round riding!! Yay!
Don't ya love them? I put mine on a couple of weeks ago. Did my first real trip with them this week (VA and back- 879 miles round trip). It was great having a couple of options to put your feet. I was looking at the pegs. I wonder if the Kuryaken ISO Wings would fit on them, for a little bit more heel room. Has anyone tried switching them out yet?

I put some on but still not used to them yet, My feet must be too wide, my boot gets caught on the cap screw and on the shifter. I have to find some button head cap screws to see if that helps any and if not they will be coming off and on to Ebay

I think I'm going to get some extenders from Kuryakyn for mine... I need a little more stretch... they make 2 and 4 inch extenders and I haven't quite made up my mind which ones to get..

I have pegs on my Vision and I love em.

Of course, I never rode a bike with pegs before.

These are great, put on a set a couple of weeks ago. The extra breeze on is nice. In my opinion, the bolt head is catching my boot, so I'm going to look for a different bolt. Also, and this is just my opinion, there is a little more vibration in the floor boards with these on, in the 2500-3000 rpm range, but it is not an issue.

I noticed that problem this evening.

I mounted my pegs to the threaded hole in the back of the front tip over points. The factory brackets were too far back for me. I twisted some 1/4 inch flat stock, drilled some holes, and now the pegs are at the front of the floor boards. Anyone want to buy the highway peg brackets I got from victory?

Hey Stretch -

Could you please post a pic so I can get a better visual of what you did? I was apprehensive about the Victory highway peg set, as I had ridden a demo bike with them on it. The bolt really caught the edge of my shoe, and wondered if it would be a safety issue. I would have liked the pegs a little further forward, so it sounds like your solution may be the hot ticket for me. How much for serial #2 of "I twisted some 1/4 inch flat stock, drilled some holes, and now the pegs are at the front of the floor boards"??? I would be interested in those if you have the time and are willing to bend up a duplicate set like yours!

Here's a try at some pics. As far as set #2, I not going to say no, but I'm 6'7" tall with a 38" inseam, these are made to fit me. It would be hard to fit someone else without them being here.

Stretch,

Your fab and install looks great.  No lip to catch your boot on.

Have you scrapped your highway pegs yet?  I have scrapped my left one twice already, but haven't scrapped the floorboards yet.

stretch, I like that. It looks clean. One of the problems I have is that it raises my leags up, I was expecting mu stretched out like your would be. I also have a problem with the bolt catching my boots.

I scraped my left peg a little over a week ago, .... on a construction barrel in a construction zone in Tennessee.

Sometimes they forget that it's hard to move to the right when there's a 2-inch ridge where they milled the road.
I was afraid to try to make the jump, so I rode in the hole as it kept getting narrower and narrower and narrower… told wife sooner or later there's going to be a barrel out of line, and then there was!
BUMPED it with the peg… leaned bike over so it wouldn't hit the top of the bike.

I finally said ‘screw it' and drove in the construction zone on the other side of the barrels and then shot up the 2-inch jump at a more straight angle … just right before I got to the paving crew.

I lived.

Nice if they would put motorcycle warnings up in Tennessee like they do in many States.

As for as scraping pegs and floorboards.
Not my cup of tea.

Hey Stretch are you taking oreders and what would you charge to make a set of pegs up for someone. I am 6'10" and I would love the reach that these provide. Let me know if you are interested in making some up to sell. Archie

For those of you that have installed the highway pegs and your boots get caught on the cap screw, I switched them out for some button head cap screws and they help alot. If interested you can buy them individually from Fastenal, part number 73834 SS BHSCS 1/2-13X 1

Thanks for the part numbers.

I don't know why Victory did not do this especially since they use button head bolts all over the place, why not here.

Phil,

Thanks much.  UPS just dropped them off and they were installed in a couple of minutes.  One less need for a socket.  They look much better than the big bolt head.  I wonder why Victory/Kuryakyn didn't use the button head bolts in the 1st place ???

Again, thanks for the part number.

Sincerely,
Tim

Ma.
I added the foot pegs a couple of months ago and although they did help a little with the hot weather... I just added the Vision wind deflectors. They throw a lot of air onto your legs. A huge difference for warm to hot weather riding. I would highly recommend them for those bothered by the heat from the engine and lack of air movement in the hot weather. They are adjustable and will also offer additional protection in the cold weather if adjusted out. For stretching out try resting the front of your foot over the peg and keep your heel on the floor board.. It is a lot more comfortable for those of us with shorter legs.

Where are the wind deflectors available from? I tried doing a search for other threads about them here and the search bombs with no results.
Does anyone have any pics? Where and how do they mount? I had the factory ones off while getting some paint work done and just left them off. They didn't seem to do any good in hot weather.

Here is the link to the thread on them. There was an issue with the version of adhesive tape they used on the first batch but that has been fixed and they are rock solid now and work great. There are pictures of them and the part number for them is in a post towards the bottom of the page.

http://www.vision-riders.com/bb/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=1069&start=1&highlight=wind+deflectors&highlightmode=1

I find the stock upper wind deflectors work well also. When turned out they keep the wind off the leg from the knee up and eliminate buffeting. When turned in they give you controlled air flow to the knees up and help cool you when it is real hot but you do get some buffeting.

Stretch,

Do you still have the Victory brackets/mounts? And if so are you still wishing to part with them? I PM'ed you a few weeks ago and wondered if you got that message as I haven't heard from you.

I switched the pegs out for on the highway bars with some Kuryaken Pilot Pegs (mail ends). I like the line of those with the crash bars/floor boards better than with the ones that came with the highway pegs. Plus, it gives more surfave area to rest your feet on. As I write this, I am in Auburn, IN, on my way to Traverse City, MI. 880 miles under my belt on the Vision between yesterday and today. The highway pegs have been a blessing on this trip so far!
