Posts: 83 Lexington, North Carolina | Is anyone using the Garmin 2820 to store mp3's and play them throught the vision stereo? I'm considering a GPS and wondered how well this works. With all the talk about poor sound I don't want to mess up a good thing. I think that I get pretty good sound from mine, hardly ever take the volume over 10 or 11 even when wearing a full face. |

Posts: 296 Central Florida | I have my Ipod Nano gen 3 and the 2820. I had stored a bunch of songs in 2820 but noticed two things.
sound quality was NOT as good as Ipod
Upon startup, the more songs and stuff you have loaded on 2820 the slower the maps load.
Hope that helps. |

Posts: 83 Lexington, North Carolina | Thanks, That's exactly what I was looking for. I'm trying to decide whether to go with the 2720 or 2820. I've been using an Ipod Nano as well and am very pleased with the sound. I really don't need most of the other upgrade of the 2820 so I'll probably just save the money and go with the 2720. |

Unless you plan on adding XM radio with current road conditions(alternate routing around accidents and breakdowns) and weather forecasts which you already know, 2720 will do fine.
2820 requires xm antenna(about the size of a McDonalds hamburger)and costs $150-200.If you want xm)
easiest way to mount (if you dont already know) is with factory mount and included cord which is plug and play(connector is just to right of console with a black rubber cap) approx 30-60 min job depending on your aptitude.
PM me if you want mounting instructions in PDF format.

PN #2875742 retail 89.99 includes billet mount and cable that works for 2720 or 2820
and directly integrates into stereo. |
