Posts: 22 jokelahoma city, jokelahoma | Ok so I take a nice short 100mi 1 way trip this weekend to get away from the busy city.
Well my radio stops picking up local channels maybe 45-55 miles from the towers and town.
the reception is pathetic on the radio.
I did some checking looks like the front alloy piece is the antenna in part as well looks like it runs down the RH inside of the faring so the antenna splits into 2 pieces.
That might work well if the thing didn't have a clear anodizing coating on it.
What Victory did was attach the antenna to it with stick tape ROFLMAO all they had to do was give us a real antenna or scratch the surface under the sticktape before attaching the antenna to it cause there is no metal to metal contact so no reception worth a crap!!!!
today I will be taking off the sticktape scuffing the metal where it contacts the antenna and see how much better signal I can get.

Posts: 118 Capitol Region of NH | It will be interesting to see what you find. I noticed the same thing, I mostly use my ipod so haven't been to concerned. I would like to see an optional external antenna on the trunk. I was under the impression that the two different antennas were for the radio and the other for the weather radio. My thought is that they are on quite different bands. |

| Very bad. My local stereo shop has had 2 different antennaes on the bike, the current one being a powered, amplified antennae. Still can't even pick up local stations very well. Next will be an external, but the stereo place is thinking the head unit on the Vision just straight up sucks... |

Posts: 732 Western WA | Interesting thread. Are you guys talking about AM or FM?
My FM is strong and clear. My AM is as good as the stock radio in my old F150. The weatherband is typically scratchy, but it's a small annoyance.
Now admittedly, I don't use the radio much but I have tried it at various places while cruising around the state and have never had a problem.
I wonder if this is one of those late production/early production differences? |

PS. I am not so sure the aluminum has anodising on it. |

Jacksonville Florida | Have the AVC adjusted to high and at 75 MPH the F.M. is loud and clear on setting 9. I can pick up the local station in Jacksonville, Florida when I'm in Brunswick, Georgia a distance of 75 miles. |

Posts: 66 Harrisburg, PA | I took my attenna out of the right side of the fairing removed the platic tube cover and exposed the loose wire. I then laid the wire across the front of the fairing. I also zip tied the metal connector where it splits to the metal bracket for the windshield. It seems to gets much better signal. I will try to post a pic.

Maybe not exactly as good as my car, but it picks up well. It could just be disconnected or badly placed. |

I am on my third one. Had the stock one replaced with a better aftermarket. Now, have a powered one. Still not worth a darn...I think it needs an external for sure... |

Posts: 332 Dale, Indiana | They installed a new radio on my bike because the digital readout went blank.
New radio doesn't pickup like the old one did… AM is useless once you leave town.
I live with XM in the house and in my work truck.
I am going to add XM to the bike and just say screw-it since I don't listen to AM & FM that much anyway.

Posts: 226 on the edge of Los Angeles | Mine was produced 200 before cjnoho and its reception on the radio is as good as my 4 wheelers in most areas. I think the Radio is secondary to the better sound you get with an MP3 of any brand when connected to the std aux plug that is furnished.
My rear speaker cones became detched from the frames within 1 week of use and since then I did a quick fix with glue and have been searching for a better replacement...
Did some searching on flash MP3's and found that there are many others than the top sellers from Apple and MS. Even some that have better sound quality reviews. I use a Zune 30 gig with a HD ( Since I already had it) and yes it has issues with the vibration.
Flash player will be next ... |

Posts: 1324 So Cal | Are there other mp3's out there that use the ipod cable? The only reason I went with the ipod is for battery charging capabilities. I started with a cheap mp3 (which also sounded good) but battery life wasnt all that good. I'll be the first to admit, Im not up on the latest audio/video tech. |

| That iPod cable will only be used by Apple products...it is something they would be VERY aggressive about if another vendor attempted to incorporate that interface.
Wait about a month here...with a $199 iPhone, the whole iPod line is sure to drop in price (or rise in capacity). |

Posts: 2026 Brighton, TN | I bought the creative labs zen player. 32gig flash player. Doesn't use the ipod cable but very good battery life. If need be it uses the same cable to charge it as the garmin gps unit that I have. No skips. I plan on relocating it to the dash somewhere and just use the functions while I'm looking at it, instead of opening and closing the little glove box. I love it and it was $200 bucks cheaper than the IPOD touch 32GIG flashplayer. Get it online at Amazon.com, at my doorstep in two days and free shipping. It does video, pictures, mp3, wma, etc.
Currently have around 3000 songs and 212 albums on it. Not even a third full. So based on those calculations it should take around 10000+ songs and 600+ albums. Should take care of most of you. And if that ain't big enough, it has a SD expansion slot for even MORE storage.
So far indestructible, but we will see.
