My son is looking at purchasing a used '04 Vegas with 17,000 miles. Looks to be in good condition and the price is right. Question.... was '04 the year that some Vics had the transmission problems? Were there any other problems on the '04's that I need to look for? TIA.

I don't own an '04 but I did own an '03 CC. The problem trannies were in the early models like '99. My '99 had the tranny replaced with an '01 under warranty.
I traded my '03 CC with 47,000 miles for my 2009 Vision Anniversary which has 40,000 miles on her (by the way my '99 has 56,000 miles). The only problem I had with my '03 was a bad battery cable.
If the bike has been properly maintained and cared for your son should have no problems.

Go to top of page and put courser on home and scroll down to Vegas and ask your question there.
This is the Vision section and we might not be able to help you as much as they could.

HI, I have a Vision and bought a 03 Vegas last year too. Mine only had 3500 miles on it but I have had no problems with it. The only thing Ive heard is about the clutch cables breaking. You can fix it by cleaning off the burrs on the handgrip.

We have an '04 Vegas and it is running strong. I think it currently has about 35K on it. It's actually my g/f's bike and she rides the crap out of it!

I too had an "04 Vegas that I traded in on my Vision in '09. Loved the Vegas and still wish I could have afforded to keep both! (as well as have a bigger garage, and.... oh I could go on for a long time.)

I would bet your son will be very happy with the Vegas!

I had an 04 Kingpin, same drivetrain as the Vegas. Never gave me any problems except for a clutch cable breaking at a bad time once.

I have an 03 Vegas with 12k on it that has no issues at all. Oh yea - dead battery - replaced...

I have been thinking of selling it since my wife only rides her Vision now... Let me know if anyone is interested... Loaded with chrome.

When Victory is old enough that they stasrt writting history books about it. The 03-06 92"/5 spd will go down as prolly the best drivetrain ever produced by Polaris as a whole. I do not generally use terms like bullet proof, but that era Victory is an exception
