I went on a toy run this AM that started at a HD Dealer. They have a bunch of bikes that are over $30K and one was over $40K. None were as nice at the Indian pictures here.

| Why would you spend that much money on a new one when you can get a original vintage Indian for the same amount.I really feel they should lower the price of the standard Chief from $26,000 to like 19,995..I think Polaris will still make a profit .

Because......
a] A vintage Indian in near perfect shape would cost at leat 1.5 times as much to buy, or twice as much to build.
b] Insuring the Vintage Indian for riding more the 1500 miles a year; would cost as much as the new bike payments
c] Have you ridden a vintage bike in the last 20 years?? I have a 55 Glide, and it will beat you to death on a 75 mile trip
d] Ride to fix.....Fix to ride
Those bikes are going to stay in the high 20's, to mid 30's, and production numbers will be low. Kinda like the old Caddilac ad says. "The slowest production line on earth, because perfection takes longer"

Engine is the proprietary Power Plus 105[a.k.a. Bottle cap] last I heard there were over 170 changes made to the drive train by Polaris engineering to address the known issues with it |
