Posts: 741 Central New York | I have no idea how Polaris plans to knit all these companies together is a manageable form. Snowmobile/Motorcycle, I get it. They are seasonably polar and the marriage can keep a factory operational year round. But Victory/Indian is two technological foes competing for the same market. And now, Polaris/Goupil. That's two completely unrelated businesses in separate parts of the world.
I don't know, but maybe there is a good side. Maybe Goupil has a live phone support with actual people you can talk to. |

| The new bike coming out in December just might be a electric vision. Battery life will be three hours and 90 mph top end.
OK I'm just drinking to much |

Posts: 785 Mt. Vernon, WASH. | POLARIS is begining to sound like Rockwell when I worked there in the early 70's. Every week the company rag had a photo of Willie Rockwell on the front page with the owners of some company he'd just bought out, everything from truck axles to sewing machines, etc. etc. I was building B-1 bombers for them at the time and they were into every industry they could wiggle or wedge into which was a big reason why they eventually went under and sold out to Boeing, too much diversity

| "they could wiggle or wedge into which was a big reason why they eventually went under and sold out to Boeing, too much diversity" One example.
How about General Dynamics? We used to build all sorts of things and look how big we are today even after selling off several divisions. Yes, one of top stocks to own in the world. |

| Shout off the TV and the stereo with total quietness that could be the sound your new bike makes. With a Electric bike no sound. Just think of who you could sneak up on or run over. Now the feds or some one is going to have to come up with a sound. Yes thats right a sound. Electric bikes and cars could kill some one cause they were not heard.
If I only had all sounds patterned |

Posts: 162 Northern NJ | Polaris has been investing in electric technology in the last couple of years. Smart strategy since things seem to be moving in that direction.
A Polaris electric motorcycle or even an electric cage may not be that far away. |

Posts: 208 Wichita, Kansas | John F - You are right, but late. The European Union is ahead of you. Read this:
According to an article in The Times [that's the Times of London], manufacturers are already testing noises that could be added to electric and hybrid cars, with white noise, computer noise and the Star Wars theme tune some sounds already considered.
Warwick University is working with car manufacturers in the West Midlands, assessing various sounds by projecting them from a test vehicle and assessing the response of pedestrians.
Professor Paul Jennings told the paper: "We will have a week with music and weeks with natural sounds, engine noise and also with science-fiction sounds.
"We need to find noises which alert people to the approaching vehicle without causing the annoyance people already feel when they hear the bleeping sounds of reversing trucks."
The industry believes that artificial sounds would only be necessary below 20mph because faster vehicles create enough tyre noise to be heard. |
