I'm getting ready to install a Hitchdoc hitch (thanks Jamie) to the Mothership. I've read many of the post for the install without removing the wheel. Thanks to all the brave people before me that have written about the install. I got the bike up on the jack ready to tackle the job but I can not figure how to remove the Plastic Flap. I called my local dealer and they didn't know how either. I'm probably missing something simple but for the life of me I can't figure it out.

Any hints will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I took my rear wheel off when I installed my HitchDoc hitch.

I'm not a 100% sure but I think the hard plastic flap can be pried off from the top part of the flap.

There might be (2) 6mm bolts fastening/holding the plastic splash flap on.

What flap are you talking about????????????
If its the one I'm think there are two 10mm holding it in place.
By the way if you pull your tail lights you'll find the wiring for the trailer.

Thomas, looks like I'm dropping the wheel!

John, thanks for the wiring tip - you have saved me (and others) a lot of work. The plastic flap I'm talking about is the black piece by the shock mount. I can see screws way down in the hole but haven't figured out how to get to them. (Would have posted a pic but can't get it to download from the camera)

Not to change the subject but no clearance probs w/hitch and 190/55 tire?

Laid the bike over on the tip overs and pried the plastic flap out of the way. Not a snap, but not the most difficult job either. REALLY wish that I knew about the wiring plug when I did the job.

Take all your socket extensions and you can reach them with out dropping the wheel
