I PICKED UP THE BIKE NEW WITH S1L1 AND IT WAS WAY TOO QUIET FOR MY TASTE. THEN INSTALLED THE THRUSH GLASS PACKS, NICE RUMBLE BUT STILL TOO LOW. I NOW HAVE STOCK PIPES THAT HAVE BEEN (DEBAFFLED), I GUTTED THEM COMPLETELY. LOUDER SOUND, BUT STILL NOT QUITE WHAT I WANT. THE 2 OPTIONS I HAVE LEFT ARE STRAIGHT PIPES WITH AFTER MARKET BAFFLES OR NESS BIG HONKERS. I'M STILL NOT SURE WHAT I'M GOING TO DO.

Honkers are the loudest I know of. They are unbaffled and straight thru. There is a debate on whether this hurts performance on Victory's. According to Lloyd, a couple of years ago, he told me Vics like some back pressure and will lose a few HP with Honkers. I personally had the Honkers and had to ditch them. After I did cams they were too damn loud. 20 min on the freeway and I couldn't wait to get off the bike. It sounded like a Mack truck!

Another slip-on muffler that is getting a lot of good reviews (I have never heard them) are the Nascar6 mufflers.

TRELL, do a search on ATOM BOMBS here. These are modified stock pipes that are drilled.

I didn't know the Honkers were true duals that included new headpipes. Getting rid of the cats also has a similar effect. When you get rid of the back pressure you don't lose HP, you usually lose low end TORQUE. And that's what makes your bike move when you twist the throttle. But there are a lot of people that are tilling to lose low end torque for more HP and more high end performance. A V twin is a V twin.

Honkers aren't true duals. They are a slip-on that replace the stock mufflers. You'll still have the stock headpipes and lovely crossover after you install them...

Edmond, OK 2012 Vision, 2012 Cross Country

I did modify the stock mufflers on my 2011 and they were the best sounding pipes I had ever heard. I had someone who rode a HD and was making comments on my Vic and I told him there was no harley that sounded as good as my Vision. His answer to this is you are right, can you do a goldwing for my inlaws? My wife really didn't like it as it was louder than she really wanted. When that was put on I added Lloydz PCV and had the bike put on a dyno to help eliminate the backfiring (did almost completely) and increased the h.p. about 10%. Since then I have traded bikes and upgraded to a 2012 Vision, now if they get all of the chrome transfered over to the new bike it will be back at home.

Good luck with whatever you choose to do, but whatever you do ride safe, and often and most important be safe.

According to LLoyds website, the honkers are the highest consistently performing muffler he's tested on a stock motor. His numbers with the VIP and tuner were 92.77hp and 109.96tq. http://www.lloydz.com/graphs/50-106-Vision5.jpg

Ride safe,

Jim

Here is a pitcher of a stock baffle knock your self out if you think your going to drill them out.
I have S1 and I pulled the black cap out of the end caps and now have the best sound even the harley rides say its the best sound they have heard.
Those black caps really rob us of sound.

Victory has S1 pipes that most don't like cause there quiet. The right end of the baffle is the inlet and the left it the outlet.
Do a exhaust search here and you'll go crazy reading all there is or goto you tube and put in victory vision exhaust and you can hear a bunch

TRELL: NO QUESTION IS STUPID. WHAT'S IMPORTANT IS TO GET INFORMED. S1 REFERS TO VICTORY'S PERFORMANCE EXHAUST KNOWN AS STAGE 1 / LEVEL 1. ABOVE THAT IS STAGE 1 / LEVEL 2, AND AFTER THAT IS AFTERMARKET PIPES ALONG WITH POWER COMMANDER 5 (PCV) OR SOME FORM OF FUEL CONTROLLER. IN ORDER TO "GUT" MY PIPES, I USED A DIE GRINDER TO CUT THE END OFF THE MUFFLER, PULLED OUT EVERYTHING AND THEN WELDED IT BACK TOGETHER. HOPE THAT HELPS.

I have the S1L2's with the Lloydz IAC and Fuel Controller, the sound is really pretty mild, but everyone I ride with tells me it sounds badass from off the bike. I cant wait for the baffles to cook a little more and open up a drop. I am also about to add the top filter, cams and shorter venturi setup. This should make for one mean Vision!!

I use Thunderheader, Thunderstix and love them.. Most aggressive and best performance according to Lloyd... Go on you tube and search for vision exhaust and there is link there..

I have an 08 with Lloydz intake and PCV V and s1l2 pipes. The baffles seem to open up at about 11k miles. I thought about changing them out but I'm happy with the sound they make now.

What I think really makes a difference is pulling the black ends out of the end caps. It really opens the sound up. I used a step drill and driller out the three nut studs. A 5/16 drill would work but the step drill bit would be better. Now go to hardware store and buy six speed nuts there back in the bins in the nut and bolt section. Get the one for 1/4" and buy six 1/4-20 bolts a 1/4 long. One of the guys I ride with was shock at how deep the pipes sound and bark when you get on it.
